Josephine Barbara Butch

Josephine "Josie" Barbara Butch, 84, of Alpena died Thursday Dec. 20, 2012 at home.
Josie Nabozna was born July 18, 1928 in Detroit to Thomas and Sophie (nee Pastua) Nabozna, then moved to Standish as a child with her family. She married William R. Butch on May 29, 1948 in Pinconning at St. Mary Catholic Church, 9 Mile.
Josie and her husband, owned and operated Consolidated Fruit Distributors, Inc in Alpena for 55 years.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Alpena and also St. Mark Catholic Church in AuGres. At St. Mark, she was a member of the Ladies Altar Society, the choir and was a religious education teacher. Many will remember Josie and her entire family when they would cater large dinners at the Tawas Knights of Columbus.
Surviving is her loving husband of 64 years, William "Bill." Also surviving are four children, William T. (Thi) Butch of Grand Haven and their children, Bill, Rose, Sarah, and Teresa; Michael (Patricia) Butch of Oklahoma City, Okla. and their children, Jason and Jessica; Elizabeth Butch (Scott Snyder) of Cordova, Tenn.; and James (Brenda) Butch of Alpena. and their children, Jennifer, Jonathan, Andrew, Julia, Claire and Harrison. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren and a sister, Francis Kraska of Rose City.
She was preceded in death by three son, David, Mark and Daniel; two brothers, Andrew and John; and four sisters, Rose, Stella, Ann and Cecelia.
A funeral mass was held Monday, Dec. 24 at St. John the Baptist Church with Fr. James Kendziorski officiating.
There will also be a funeral mass at St. Mark Catholic Church in AuGres today, Wednesday Dec. 26, where friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. Fr. James Falsey will officiate. Interment will be at Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Cemetery in Standish.
Memorial donations may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Alpena or St. Mark Catholic Church in AuGres. P
