Marinda Alice Shover (Wilcox) of Linwood, formerly of Tawas City for 59 years, passed away peacefully at Huron Woods Nursing Home in Kawkawlin on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, age 87 years.
After high school graduation, she attended two years of nursing college, earning an LPN degree. She practiced nursing for Dr. Norman Payea Sr. for 35 years, retiring in 1985.
Marinda married her husband, Earl F. Shover, on Sept. 20, 1948 in Bay City. Together they celebrated 59 beautiful years of marriage, until Earl's passing in January 2008. Marinda was a talented and energetic woman who truly enjoyed sewing, painting, drawing, reading and going to casino's.
Marinda is survived by her three children, Cathy (Bill) Butler of Mulvane, Kan., Barb (Steve) Swanson of Linwood and Don (Sue) Shover of Homer, Alaska; 19 grandchildren, Cindy, Lance, Paul, David, Laura, Nick, Rob, Becca, Kim, Ben, Tom, Kristin, Ashley, Megan, Whitney, Huey, Steve, Stacy, and Joe; 22 great grandchildren, Jack, Gabby, Cole, Matt, Aleia, Brook, Jordon, Parker, Logan, Caleb, Maddie, Samson, Hudson, Kyla, Caroline, Christina, Allison, Grace, Kennedy, Caleb, Adam, and Stevi Lynn; two brothers, Pete (Marie) Wilcox of Texas and Gene (Evelyn) Wilcox of Ohio; one sister-in-law, Mary Grace Wilcox of Beaverton; and many dear friends. Marinda was preceded in death by her husband, Earl F. Shover; sister, Virginia Bedell; brother, Charles Wilcox; brother-in-law, Edward Bedell; parents, Mary and Charles Wilcox; and mother- and father-in-law, Gilbert and Eda Shover.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, Feb 18 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Tawas City with Pastor Steven Mahlburg officiating. Her family will welcome friends at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. Interment will take place in the spring in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Tawas City.
