Richard D. Brenner D.V.M. of Ovid and Hale, age 70, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013.
Richard graduated from the veterinarian school of medicine at Michigan State University
in 1967, and in 1973 was the co-founder of the Ovid-Elsie Animal Clinic in Ovid. He quickly built a reputation as the finest veterinary clinic in the area for his knowledge, care and compassion he showed toward pets.
Dr. Brenner was affiliated with the American Veterinary Medical Association and Michigan Veterinary Medical Association for 28 years. He was the Chief Okemos of the Lansing Council for the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed the outdoors and for nine years was a counselor at the Northwood Scout Reservation. He loved to teach others how to fish and had a great sense of humor. He also was a member of the Ovid Lions Club for many years.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Suzanne Brenner (Smith); son, Tom Brenner of Cincinnati, Ohio; and daughter, Melissa Brenner of Ovid and her significant other, Chris Gunderman. He was preceded in death by his father, Reynold Brenner; and mother, Doris Brenner (Weaver).
Per request, cremation has taken place. Memorial services will take place at later dates at the Michigan State University alumni chapel and Northwood Scout Reservation. Arrangements were made by Buresh Funeral Homes, Inc., 121 S. Washington, Hale.
