Sally Hall-Janssen, age 74, of Oscoda passed away Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013 at Iosco County Medical Care Facility in Tawas City after a three-year battle with cancer.
She was born in Owosso on July 12, 1939 to the late Fred and Arlene Strawsien. Sally attended Michigan State University
where she studied horticulture and also received her associate's degree in marketing from Ferris State University.
She was a life member of the Mitten Bay Girl Scouts, past president of the Oscoda Oscoda Yacht Club Ladies Auxiliary, as well as a member of the Oscoda Yacht Club and a participating member of the Greenbush Chamber of Commerce. Sally worked as a florist for many years, putting her studies in horticulture to good use.
She is survived by her children, Mason (Debbie) Hall, Phyllis Hall Zimmer and Evelyn Hall Matelske; grandchildren, Calvin and Branden Hall of Clarksville, Tenn.; and her nieces and nephews, Cheryl (John Boufford) Peterson of Greenbush, William (Susan) Peterson of Deadwood, S.D., Sharon Brehmer of Bath and Charles (Kristi) Robins of Freeland. Sally is also survived by her very good friends, Leroy Rickett and Nancy Cawley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Janssen; and her sister, Jane Peterson.
Visitation services will begin Friday, Aug. 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Buresh Funeral Home in Oscoda and a funeral service will be held Saturday, Aug. 10 at 11 a.m. at Hope St. John's Church in Oscoda.
