Sally Lou Conquest

Sally Lou Conquest died Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Tendercare in Tawas City.
Sally was born on July 4, 1930 to Voyle D. Robertson and Eva Robertson in Romeo, where she was also raised. Sally was the second child born, following the birth of her brother, Allen B. Robertson, who is four years senior.
Sally attended and graduated from Romeo High School in 1948. She attended Michigan State University and Hillsdale College, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1952. It was there that she met her husband, James Edward Conquest. They were married just prior to graduation from college and made their home in Grand Blanc.
Sally taught elementary school after her children began attending school. She later worked at Starr Commonwealth in Albion for several years, until her retirement in 1995. Sally then relocated to East Tawas to live out her remaining years visiting and being visited by her children and many friends.
Sally was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Conquest; and her parents, Voyle and Eva Robertson.
Surviving are her brother, Allen Robertson of East Tawas (formerly of New York City); her four children, Pamela Lee Katona of Tawas City, Susan Lynn (Stephen) Kiracofe of Worland, Wyo., Jeffrey David (Teresa) Conquest of Beulah and James Allen Conquest of Pontiac; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.
Sally will be remembered for the love she expressed to family and friends in her knitted creations and baking (arguably) the best peach pies in Michigan. Per Sally's last wishes her remains have been cremated and she requested that there be no formal funeral arrangements.
