Thomas G. Hutchings of National City died Feb. 15, 2013 at Sunrise Memorial Hospital in Las Vegas, Nev. at the age of 59.
He was born to the late Jesse and Marie (Brays) Hutchings on Dec. 12, 1953 in Detroit. Thomas graduated from Edsel Ford High School in 1972. He married Cheryl Mays on Dec. 19, 1980.
Thomas worked for Dean Arbour of Tawas for 21 years. He retired in 2012. He enjoyed playing music, the other love of his life. Many people knew him as Tom of Gunsmoke. He also enjoyed many trips to Vegas with his loving wife where they had hoped to enjoy their retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Marie Hutchings; brother, Charles Hutchings; and father-in-law, David Mays. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Cheryl Hutchings; son, Thomas (Lindsey) Hutchings Jr.; sister, Thelma (Jerry) Fisher; two brothers, Jesse (Linda) Hutchings and Steven Hutchings; and by his loving buddy, grandson Aiden Hutchings. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, April 13 at 11:30 a.m. at East Tawas Assembly of God Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the National Cancer Foundation.
