William Lyle Stevens, age 81 of Clarksville, Tenn., formerly of Oscoda, passed away March 6, 2014 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.
He was born July 15, 1932 in Akron to the late Loyd and Beulah (nee Hammond) Stevens. He was a retired veteran with the U.S. Air Force
, with 21 years of service. He served during the Korean and Vietnam War
periods. He was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Enid R. Stevens, almost five months to the day of his own death. He was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Lyle.
He is survived by two sons and two daughters, Jack Stevens of Nashville, Linda (Dennis) Cholger of East Tawas, Gail (Todd) Parker of Oscoda and William Stevens of Clarksville.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Delana Howe, Arreonna Stevens, Loyd Parker, Bryan Janick and Joyce, Dennis and Kari Stevens; and by six great-grandchildren, Alexis Galea, Aerianna, Alivia and Aubrey Howe and Paula Gail Parker.
William enjoyed bowling, fishing and traveling, and most of all, spending time with friends and family.
A private family viewing took place on March 11, 2014 at Sykes Funeral Home in Clarksville, followed by a graveside service at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, Ky.
