Alvin Gene Miller, age 79, of Mikado, formerly of Oscoda, passed away Friday, Aug. 9, 2013 at home surrounded by his family.
Born on July 10, 1934 to the late Elizabeth and Guy T. Miller in Mohoning Twp., Pa., Alvin served in the United States Air Force for 20 years. He retired as a tech sergeant in 1974.
On Sept. 11, 1965 he married Janice E. (nee Holder) Fulgham in Oscoda. Together, with their children, they lived in Georgia and California. Upon their return to Michigan, he retired at Wurtsmith Air Force Base.
Alvin was a member of the Oscoda American Legion Post 254, the 40 et 8 No. 669 and the Oscoda Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 3735.
He is survived by his two daughters, Vanessa (John) Webster of Mikado and Lorraine (John) Pulda of Oscoda. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Alvin is also survived by 11 siblings: Celica (Norman) Swartz, Alaura Jones, Anna Oister, Grace (Norval) Treat, Mary Bynum, Paul (Carol) Miller, Mabel (Ron) Stubbs, Fred (Linda) Miller, Neil (JoAnne) Miller, John Miller and Becky (Joe) Macijowsky.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice, in 1998 and daughter, Linda Curtis, in 2012.
There will be a memorial service on Monday, Aug. 26 at 1 p.m. at the Oscoda American Legion. Cremation has already taken place by the Cremation Society of Mid-Michigan.
