Margery Frances (nee Frede) Geeraert of Oscoda passed away peacefully on Sunday. May 4, 2014. at 97 years of age.
Margery was born May 10, 1916 to Oscar and Ruth Frede in Wenona, Ill. She graduated from high school, attended secretarial school and worked for the University of Michigan. In 1945 she married Albert B. Geeraert and they settled in Southfield to raise a family. In 1978 they retired to Oscoda.
Margery is survived by her loving son, Bruce A. Geeraert; loving daughter, Jacqueline (Mark) Brooks; her loving grandson, Matthew P. Beer; and seven nieces and nephews.
Margery was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, and sister, Ruthmary.
Margery enjoyed golf, needlepoint, playing cards and reading. She was active in the Sunrise Side Republican Women's Club and volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital in Tawas City and the Oscoda Health Park. She was always available to lend a helping hand wherever needed. She will be missed by many neighbors, friends and family.
A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 16 with a lunch to follow at Lakewood Shores Beach Club.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Hospital Foundation, Tawas City.
