Paul R. Beauparland, age 85, of Tawas City, former resident of Munising, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013 at Tendercare Nursing Home in Tawas City.
He was born and raised the son of Wilferd and Anna (nee Milchuck) Beauparland on April 15, 1927 in Munising. Paul graduated from the eighth grade at Sacred Heart Catholic School and graduated from Mather High School in 1944 in Munising.
After graduation, he worked at the Munising Paper Mill before leaving for the service where he served our country during World War II with the United States Navy from May 15, 1945 to Sept. 1, 1946. After returning home, he went on to college and graduated with a business degree from Northern Michigan College. After graduation, he married his best friend, Mary Erickson, on July 5, 1958 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Munising and together they shared 54 years of marriage.
After he was married, he worked in Detroit for two years for the Liquor Commission for the State of Michigan and was later transferred to the Tawas Area and worked for 32 years before retiring in 1990.
Paul was a member of the American Legion and Knights of Columbus in Munising, a member of the Elks Club in Tawas City and a member and devoted Catholic to Holy Family Catholic Church in East Tawas. He loved to go golfing, bowling, hunting and as a child was often found downhill ski jumping in Munising, but most important in his life was being a loving, caring and supportive husband, father and grandfather to his family. He enjoyed spending countless hours with his family and sharing memories at the hunting camp.
Paul is survived by his beautiful wife, Mary; loving daughter, Janice, and her husband, Gerald Groff; and his adored grandchildren Michelle (Mike) Westcott, Tammy Hager and Eric (Sheila Wilson) Groff; nine special great grandchildren, Miranda, Taylor, Joshua, Austin, Desirae, Justin, Chelsie, Riley and Dominic; and several nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerome (Mary) Beauparland; sisters, Rosemary (Orvil) Morrison and Dorothy (Clarence) Ogden; his nephew, Michael Beauparland; and grandson, Scott Paul Groff.
A funeral mass with full military honors will be held on Monday, Feb. 11 at Holy Family Catholic Church in East Tawas, Michigan with Rev. Lawrence Boks officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Feb. 10 at Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the or the .
