Donald Joseph Marcoullier of AuSable Township passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013 at Tawas St. Joseph Hospital, age 77 years.
Don was born in North Attleboro, Mass. on Aug. 22, 1935 to Dona and Evelyn (Isherwood) Marcoullier. He proudly served our country for 20 years in the United States Air Force, retiring honorably as a technical sergeant.
He married his lovely wife, Marilyn (Theut), on June 27, 1953 in Detroit. Together, they celebrated 59 beautiful years of marriage. Those who knew Don will always remember how he truly adored and cherished his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was an automobile enthusiast who had a passion for competitive racing. He raced for many years mostly in the stock car division throughout several different race tracks. Don was a hard worker who had a talent for working on automobiles. He found enjoyment in doing auto body work, restoring and rebuilding cars and trucks. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Don is survived by his wife, Marilyn Marcoullier of Oscoda; four children, Connie (Matthew) Bonalewicz of Virginia, Donnie (Della) Marcoullier of Houghton Lake, Joyce Marcoullier of Roscommon and Donna Tregear of Virginia; 10 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Richard (Charlotte) Marcoullier of Massachusetts; one brother-in-law, Gerald (Rosie) Theut of Oscoda; one sister-in-law, Marjorie (Thomas) McMillan of Macomb; six nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. Don was preceded in death by two great grandchildren, Mikala and Kindra.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Buresh Funeral Home in Oscoda. A funeral service with full military honors is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 23 at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Rob Nordin officiating. Interment will take place in Oscoda Pinecrest Cemetery.
