Elizabeth S. Malek, age 86, of Oscoda passed away July 14, 2013 at Tawas St. Joseph Hospital.

She was born in Detroit on Nov. 21, 1926 to the late Carl and Stella Krzak. Elizabeth married the love of her life, Victor Malek, on Nov. 16, 1946 in Melvin. They moved to Oscoda in 1958 and Oscoda became their permanent residence.
Throughout the years Elizabeth worked many jobs, but her most important job was taking care of her family. She enjoyed playing bingo, fishing by Van Etten Creek Dam and the mouth of the AuSable River and working on her arts and crafts projects.
Elizabeth is survived by her children, Warren Malek of Oscoda and Linda (Dale) Brazee of Littleton, Colo.; grandchildren, Michael (Angela) Van Hee of Evergreen, Colo. and Mandy Murray of Littleton, Colo.; and her great-grandchildren, Brandon Van Hee, Breanna Van Hee, Taylar Marley and Jazlyn Brazee. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Donna (Don) Mancevich, Alice Malek and Marie Krzak; God-daughter Sherry Kessler; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Malek; brothers, Henrie Krzak, William Krzak and John Krzak; sister, Genevieve Kessler; and nephews, Gary Krzak and Dale Kirsch.
