Florence Mary Piekarz, age 94, of Oscoda, formerly of Berkley, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014 with her family by her side.

She was born in Detroit on Oct. 31, 1919 to the late Edward and Emilia Boudreau (nee Cyr). Florence graduated from St. Mary's High School in Royal Oak in 1938 and went on to become one of the first women supervisors at Burroughs Corporation in Plymouth.
She married the love of her life, John Piekarz, on Aug. 21, 1943. Florence was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, as well as the CCW group at the church. She enjoyed gardening, knitting and most importantly, spending time with her family.
Florence is survived by her children, Lucia Creamer and JoAnn (Richard) Colley; her sisters, Mary (Gary) Walmsley and Theresa Denell; grandchildren, Terri (Neil) Smith, Chris (Mike) Smith, Mary (Gary) Lezzote, John (Rochelle) McNamara, Melissa (Frank) Gutierrez and Melanie (James) Moore. She is also survived by 15 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her husband, John Piekarz; son-in-law, Wes Creamer; sister, Blanche Cavanaugh; brothers, Paul and Edward Boudreau and grandson, Steve Creamer.
The family will welcome friends at Buresh Funeral Home in Oscoda on Friday, May 9 from 2 to 9 p.m. and a funeral service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oscoda on Saturday, May 10 at 11 a.m. (in-state at 10 a.m.).
