James M. Tyson, age 55, of Whittemore passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening, Feb. 26, 2013 at St. Mary's of Michigan, Saginaw.
Mr. Tyson was born Aug. 26, 1957 in Saginaw to the late Edgar Isaac and Ida Mae (Bailey) Tyson. He married the former Margaret Ann Allen on March 8, 1975 and together they raised five children, Bryan, James Jr., Thomas, Steven and Brandy.
Mr. Tyson had been employed with Webb Well Drilling in Hale for 15 years. Most recently, he was employed as a driver for T&S Trucking in Saginaw for the last 12 years.
Mr. Tyson will be remembered for being a confidante, a hero to his children, grandchildren and numerous friends. His family will especially remember his giving nature where his last wish was to be an organ donor through the Gift of Life Michigan.
Mr. Tyson enjoyed hunting and fishing especially with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed racing cars not only at Whittemore Speedway, but also drag racing at Tri City Raceway. Mr. Tyson was a key member of the Whittemore Lions Club and a member of Teamsters Local 486.
Mr. Tyson is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; children, Bryan (Barb) Allen, James (Kaulana) Tyson Jr., Thomas (Cheyene) Tyson, Steven (Mary) Tyson and Brandy Petri; 15 grandchildren; brothers, Bobby (Gina) Tyson and Thomas (Jutta) Tyson; sisters, Sandy (Robert) Ochsenkhel and Linda (William) Ricketts; sister-in-law, Sue Tyson; and mother-in-law, Lucy Scott.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Tyson was preceded in death by son-in-law, Brian Petri; and brother, Edgar "Jr." Tyson.
Visitation for Mr. Tyson will take place from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 2 and noon to 1 p.m. Sunday, March 3 at C.L. Forshee & Sons Funeral Homes, Inc., Twining Chapel. Funeral service will be held Sunday, March 3 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Stan Lightfoot officiating. Cremation will follow. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family's wishes.
