Mary Elizabeth Hunt Feller, age 97, of East Tawas died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013 at Tendercare in Tawas.

She was born Jan. 21, 1916 in Flint to Mason and Elizabeth (nee Oldstead) Hunt.
Mary graduated from the Hurley School of Nursing in Flint in 1938. She married Carson Feller of Montrose in 1938 in Angola, Ind. She worked in hospitals in California and Texas as she followed her husband during World War II. She was one of the nurses who treated people on the front lawn of Hurley Hospital during the Beecher tornado in 1953. She retired as a visiting nurse in 1972, then became a volunteer nurse.
She liked to have a good time with her many friends at their homes in Flushing, Loon Lake in Hale, Indian Lake in National City, East Tawas and all of Michigan. Mary enjoyed golf, tennis, bridge, dancing and fishing. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Tawas City.
Mary is survived by two sons, Mike of Florida and Vern of East Tawas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carson; brothers, Bob Hunt and Jerry Hunt; sisters, Louise Schlegelmilch, Ruth Nickel, Pat Brooks and Judy Frazier.
Private cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to United Methodist Church in Tawas City.
