Irene L. Wurn, age 80, a 20-year resident of National City, died on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Tawas St. Joseph Hospital.

She was born in Flint on Aug. 16, 1933. Irene grew up in Clio and attended St. Mary's School. She was united in marriage to her true love, Max R. Wurn, on Oct. 30, 1953 in Mt. Morris. The two were happily married and inseparable for over 65 years.
She was employed for over 25 years with General Motors as a machinist/welder at Turnsteads/Fisher Body. She retired on April 30, 1979. Irene dedicated her life to her husband and family. She was a very talented seamstress and even made clothing for herself as well as for friends and family. Irene beautifully painted ceramics and crocheted for many years.
She enjoyed playing bingo and was involved as a Cub Scout den mother. Irene read her Bible daily and prayed for everyone.
Left to treasure her memory are her husband, Max R. Wurn; two sons, (Walter) Rick Wurn of Oscoda, Bruce Wurn of Mt. Morris; four grandchildren, Alethea and husband Matt Harvey, Hannah Wurn, Joshua and wife Lisa Wurn, and Joanna Wurn; great grandchildren, Nikolai, Gage, Ge'nya, Ge'nae, and other very special grandbabies along with other special family members and friends. Irene loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren very much. Everyone will sadly miss her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira E. and Elinor H. France (Enyart); brother, Everett Lee Morrison; and granddaughter, Rosanna Mae Wurn.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 1 at 11 a.m. at Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City with Rev. Rob Nordin officiating. Interment will follow in Wilber Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com.
