John Joseph Miller of East Tawas passed away July 25, 2014 at 73 years of age.

Mr. Miller graduated from Tawas High School in 1959. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served between 1959 and 1961. He loved Sprint car racing and enjoyed traveling, especially his Navy ship reunions, good food and playing cards. John was a very good carpenter and a good husband.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marcine; three children, Heather Lyn Miller, John Joseph, II (Tiffany) Miller and David E. (Dolly) Miller; grandchildren, Kayla Lyn Miller, Morgan Converse, Samantha Converse and Cydney Converse and a great granddaughter, Sophia Converse; siblings, Michael (Nancy) Mineau and Toni (James) Grey; along with two brother-in-laws, Donald VandenLangenberg and Robert Carlyon. He is also survived by two aunts; Toots and Thelma; along with many nieces, nephews; and his dear pets, Mattie, CC and Cappucino. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Hazel; one daughter, Barbara Miller; siblings, Carol (Chuck) Nash, Maureen (Robert) Carlyon and Barbara (Don) VandenLangenberg; and three aunts, Burnetta, Clare and Edna Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 29 at the Tawas Chapel of Buresh Funeral Home, 416 Whittemore St. in Tawas City with Gordon Long officiating.
