Donald J. Miner Sr., age 84, of Lancaster, Pa., passed away on Friday, July 8, 2011, after a long illness.

Mr. Miner formerly resided in East Tawas and was married to Christine M. (Grubb) Miner, with whom he would have celebrated 45 years of marriage this November.
Donald proudly served his country for 23 years, beginning in the Army Air Corps and retiring from the U.S. Air Force. He was equally proud of and dedicated to Tawas Saint Joseph Hospital, where he retired after 20 years in 1987. Donald was an avid bowler, coin collector, blood donor and member of the Elks and Kiwanis.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Donald J. Miner Jr. of Harwinton, Conn., and James D. Miner of Tawas City; one daughter, Donna J. Miner-Ruby (Patrick) of New Bethlehem, Pa.; and two grandchildren, Tyler and Hannah Ruby.
A memorial service will be held at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Pennsylvania, where military honors will be rendered. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Red Cross, 430 West Orange Street, P.O. Box 4624, Lancaster, PA 17604-4624, or to any veterans organization.
