To celebrate her life and achievements, funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, at Nelson-House Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on that day from 11 a.m. until the time of service. A reception will follow at the Comstock Inn in Owosso.
Marjorie was born in Tawas City on April 28, 1923, the daughter of Frederick and Helma Musolf.
She received her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Michigan, Master of Arts at the University of Maryland and a PhD at Michigan State University.
Marjorie was an outdoor educator – hunting, fishing and sharing her knowledge with others about nature was her passion and joy. Noted for her green thumb, she could plant anything anywhere and it would grow. Her log cabin up north, which she helped build at the age of 7, was her favorite retreat. She also especially enjoyed fishing and bear hunting in the UP with her brother, Willard, and friends, Dave Tackman and Connie Verhamme.
During World War II, Marge first helped build bombers in Ypsilanti. She proudly served in the WACs from 1944 to 1945 and counted her service to her country among her many accomplishments.
Marjorie married Joseph A. Baclawski on July 8, 1944. They had four children.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Joseph A. Baclawski; sister, Joan (Ronald) Gowin; sister-in-law, Lois (John) Dawson Musolf McMackin; children, Diane Baclawski, Joseph Baclawski, Kris Baclawski and Karen Baclawski (William Zajac); grandchildren, Jenn Baclawski, Brenda (David) Stambaugh, Alexander and Joanna Baclawski-Zajac; great-grandchildren, Savannah and Dylan Stambaugh; nieces and nephews, Rick (Debbie) Smith, Kathy (Jim) Lafrenier, Rory (Kelly) Smith, Kevin Smith, Kandi Simmons, Lori Gowin Brewer, Tracy (Joe) Gowin Coombs, Chris (Kara) Gowin, Gayle Musolf Lyons, Gary (Julie) Dawson, Mark Dawson, Marna (William) Dawson Mucha and David Musolf; favorite uncle, Julius (Janet) Musolf; cousin, Paul John Kurf; special friends, Dave Tackman, Connie Verhamme, Terry Miller and Terry Rodgers; longtime Girl Scout buddies, Ruth (Ed) Smith, Boo Law and Ginger Shields; and extraordinary pet and leg-warmer, "Damn Cat."
