Mary Katherine Holtz of Oscoda passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2012 at her home, age 83 years.

Mary was born in Gattman, Miss. on March 29, 1929 to Robert and Willie (Markham) Patterson. She graduated from St. Agnes High School in Springfield, Mo.
She married her husband, Clarence Harold Holtz, on Dec. 29, 1950 and together they celebrated 49 years of marriage until Clarence's death in 1999.
Mary was employed as an accountant and chief of material through the United States Government for 20 years, retiring in 1993. She was a member of the Eastern Star Daughters of the Nile. Those who knew Mary will always remember how she truly enjoyed shopping, knitting and flowers. She was a strong family woman who dearly loved her children and adored her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her two children, daughter, Kathleen M. Holtz, and son, Robert (Elizabeth) Holtz; two grandsons, Jesse Robert Holtz and Joshua Daniel Holtz; and her beloved Yorkshire terrier, Peni. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence "Bud" Harold Holtz; and her sister, Billie B. Patterson.
