Frank Edward Bigda, age 97, of Oscoda passed away on Feb. 19, 2013 in Englewood, Fla.

He was born in Bay City on Nov. 17, 1915 to the late John and Anna Bigda. Frank attended Bay City Central High School and later earned a degree from Coyne Electrical School. He joined the military in 1941 and served as an aircraft electrician in Europe.
Frank retired from Dow Chemical Company after 35 years of service. After retirement, he became a licensed real estate agent and broker and also a licensed residential contractor. Frank was an avid fisherman, deer hunter, stain glass lamp maker and he also enjoyed golfing and working in his shop. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oscoda.
Frank is survived by his son, Terrence (Janet) Bigda of Oscoda; his daughter, Frances (Elmer) Megyese of Benton Harbor; and his grandchildren, Frank Bigda of Strawberry Plains, Tenn. and Shari Bravata of Portage. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Bigda (nee Herbert); and his son, David Bigda.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, April 26 at 10 a.m. (instate at 9 a.m.) at St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Bay City with interment to follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Bay City.
