Ames, Mary Judith  
Mary Judith (Judy) Ames Mary Judith (Judy) Ames, 74, a long-time resident of Hilton Head Island, SC, passed away on May 29th, 2015 in Oklahoma City, OK surrounded by family. She was born on October 8, 1940 in Minneapolis, MN to Charles and Mary Bartlett. Previously from Oklahoma City, OK, Judy moved to Hilton Head Island in 1994 to live with her sister Meg Bartlett and family. Judy was a great cook and loved reading and doing crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by her brother Charles (Chuck) Bartlett Jr. Judy is survived by her loving daughter Jennifer Slay, son-in law Richard Slay, and grandson Harley Slay of Oklahoma City. She is also survived by her sister Meg Bartlett , brother - in- law Jim Bartlett and nieces Brandy and Jayme Bartlett all of Hilton Head Island, her brother Mark Bartlett of Annapolis, MD, his wife Denise and their two children. She was loved by many and will be missed.

John V. Appelbe John V. Appelbe, 67, of Hilton Head Island, SC, formerly of Mt. Lebanon, Pa., died on Sunday, June 7, 2015, at Hospice House in Savannah, Ga. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jule (Steverman) Appelbe and parents, F. Clark Appelbe and Helen Appelbe. Loving father of Scott (Maria) Allen Appelbe of Phoenix, Az.; grandfather of Cali Appelbe and Ben Lewis; brother of F. Clark Appelbe, Jr., Timothy (Noelle) D. Appelbe, Mary Patricia (John) Dagenhard, Thomas (Patricia) W. Appelbe, and Catherine (Michael) A. Horvat; stepfather to Ernest R. Lewis, Jr., Donald Lewis, and Christopher Lewis; with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Named after both his grandfathers, John was a 1966 graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School, a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Navy, a graduate of La Roche College, and an employee of the USPS in Savannah, Ga. John will best be remembered for his kind and generous heart. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church, 45 Beach City Rd, Hilton Head Island on Friday, June 12, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. Memorial Contributions in John's name can be made to the Yana Club, 107 Mathews Dr, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926. Ash, Jon F.  
Jon F. Ash, of Hilton Head Island, died in Houston, Texas on Thursday, June 4, 2015, after a long battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Mr. Ash was 75 years old. Mr. Ash was the son of Dr. Herman Ash and Dr. Charlotte Ash. He was born on September 7, 1939 in Saugerties, New York. Following graduation from Saugerties High School, he attended Michigan State University where he earned an undergraduate degree in hotel and restaurant management and MBA in finance. Mr. Ash's career centered on economics and finance for the commercial aviation industry. In 1986, he founded and was the Managing Director of the predecessor of Global Aviation Associates, a Washington D.C.-based commercial aviation consulting firm, which he ran for over two decades until his retirement. Prior to Global Aviation, he was employed by Trans World Airlines for 20 years. He served TWA in several capacities including Assistant Corporate Controller at the New York City corporate headquarters, Central Regional Vice President in Chicago, and Corporate Vice President of Government and International Relations in Washington D.C. Mr. Ash's career was largely spent in the Washington D.C. area where he was a resident of Westmoreland Hills in Bethesda, Maryland for over 25 years. He was an avid golfer and member at the Burning Tree Club and Columbia Country Club in Bethesda. Mr. Ash served on the Burning Tree House and Breakfast Foursome Committees. He was an active member of the International Aviation Club as well as board member and regular supporter of the Greater Washington Aviation Open, an annual charity golf tournament which benefited charities such as Corporate Angel Network and Veterans Airlift Command. A full time Hilton Head resident since 2011, Mr. Ash was a member of Sea Pines Country Club and a regular volunteer at Second Helpings. Mr. Ash is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara, their son, David of San Antonio, Texas; daughter-in-law, Allison; and grandson John. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MD Anderson Cancer Center or the Hilton Head SPCA. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 12, 2015 in Hilton Head at the Providence Presbyterian Church, followed by a reception at the Sea Pines Country Club.

Bonnell Jr., Milton Emmit  
Milton Emmit Bonnell Jr. Milton Emmit Bonnell Jr. passed away June 13, 2015 at his home in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Milton was 90 years old and was predeceased by his brother Frank Bonnell of Dalton, Georgia. He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Betty Tipton Bonnell, sons Brad of Norcross, Ga. and Daniel of Savannah, Ga., daughter Ellen of Ellabell, Ga. and sister JoAnn Williams of Dalton, Ga. Milton joined the Navy in 1943 and served twenty-three months at sea in the Pacific and nine months shore duty. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1950 and gained employment with J.C. Penney Corporation.  He had a career in  management with J. C. Penny at locations in Virginia, Indiana and Georgia. He finished his career at the J.C. Penney store in Rome, Georgia and later retired to Hilton Head Island, SC. He is also survived by grandsons Brian, Michael, Jesse and Andrew. Boully, Frederick Richard  
Frederick Richard Boully Frederick Richard Boully of Hilton Head Island left us to meet Jesus on June 22, 2015 at Hilton Head Hospital, he was a loving husband to Mary for almost 40 years. Fred was born on December 19, 1947 in Reading, PA to the late Chester and Helen V. Boully.   He was a graduate of Virginia Tech where he studied Architecture.  After leaving school he joined the Bechtel Group where he was a Resident Engineer supervising the construction of several lines of the Washington Metro System.  He was also responsible for building a Smart Building for IBM in Virginia. Fred and Mary relocated to Hilton Head Island in 1981.   Fred worked for Venture Technology Properties with whom he built several Business & Technology Centers in South Carolina. He was a member of St Luke's Church where he had served as both junior and Senior Warden.  He was an avid student of the Bible and taught numerous classes on it. Fred and Mary had a passion for travel and tried to make a cruise to the Caribbean Islands an annual winter event.  In the fall they would enjoy visiting exotic ports of call in Europe. Fred is survived by his wife, Mary, daughter, Kaycee Binns Dowell, husband Lindsey, son Harvey Livingston Binns, IV (Chip), daughter Aline Boully Wilson, husband Thomas and seven grandchildren, McLean and Aidan Dowell, Kate, Kennedy (Keke) and Khloe Wilson and granddaughters of the heart Aisling and Teagan Quinlan.  Fred is also survived by his sister, Janie B. Iwai and her husband Robert. A Memorial Service will be held at St Luke's Church on Thursday, July 2nd at 3:00pm.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make a donation to the charity of your choice. Bowser, Thomas A.  
Thomas A. Bowser, 81, died on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at St. Josephs / Candler, Savannah, Ga. He was born in Altoona, PA on January 2, 1934. He was the son of the late Alexander G. Bowser and Naomi Thurston Bowser. He was their only child. He was predeceased by his first wife, A. Joyce Swisher. From this marriage, he is survived by two sons, Thomas G. (Kathy) and Timothy W. and his wife, Barbara, granddaughter, Lora (Jason), grandson Jeffrey (Alice) and great grandsons, Justin and Collin Lowery, Joshua Bowser, and great granddaughter, Alice Bowser. He moved to Sun City, Bluffton, SC in 1999 where he met and married Frances B. McQuillan on January 6, 2005. He was employed with the Dupont Company for 38 years retiring as supervisor of mechanical training at the Delisle, MS plant. He was a 55 year member of the Woodstown Masonic Lodge #138 and was Lodge Master in 1965. He was a Gideon International member and was a speaker and past president of the Brevard Camp, NC. He also was a member of Kiwanis, and served as a deacon in two Presbyterian (PCA) churches, Gulfport, MS and Grace Coastal Presbyterian Church of America, Okatie, SC. Member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Bluffton, SC. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Bluffton, SC. The family will receive friends from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville, Road, Bluffton, SC. Memorials may be made in memory of Thomas A. Burkman, Conrad Weir  
Conrad Weir BurkmanConrad Weir Burkman, age 83, of Bluffton, SC died Monday, June 1, 2015 at Bloom of Bluffton. Mr. Burkman was born on February 9, 1932 in Birmingham, MI, the son of the late Nels Weir Burkman and Thelma McKenzie Burkman. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. He was a graduate of Michigan State University. He began his career in sales with IBM, continuing with Xerox, and ultimately with Bell and Howell where he retired after many years of service. He was the life of the party and enjoyed everyone he met and made them all feel comfortable. Mr. Burkman was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Angus Burkman. He was her caregiver during her battle with cancer; he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Susan Burkman. He is survived by his son, Bruce Burkman (Alison Conley) of Bluffton, SC as well as his granddaughter, Elizabeth Linda Burkman of Columbus, OH. Funeral services will be private. Barbara Lynn CampbellBarbara Lynn Campbell, 48, of Beaufort, SC passed away on Monday, June 8, 2015 at her residence. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 11, 2015 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Anderson Funeral Home. A memorial service will take place on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 11 am at Carl Anderson Memorial Chapel with interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Barbara was born on April 30, 1967 in Beaufort, SC to Raymond Allen and Jean Haskins Allen. Barbara was a member of Port Royal Baptist Church and worked as an RN for Hilton Head Hospital. Barbara was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Boisclair. Surviving in addition to her parents; is two daughters, Tiffany Simmons and Stephanie Campbell; one brother, Ray Allen; one sister, Linda Blount; and two grandchildren, Madison and Chad Allen. Surviving in addition to her husband, Ronald; are one son Adam Carpenter; two daughters, Lara Williams (Wayne) and Kelly Champlin (Brian); four grandchildren, Jonathan, Caleb, Connor and Hannah; one brother, Michael Finnegan and two sisters, Judy Hostrup and Pat Blackwell.
