Lincoln, Norma Jean
Norma Jean Lincoln Norma Jean Lincoln, a resident of the Seabrook on Hilton Head Island died on July 15, 2015 at the age of 92. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 22, 1923. She graduated from high school in Brooklyn in 1941 and married Allen Lincoln in 1943. They had a loving marriage of 70 years until his death in 2013. While Allen was serving in World War II Jean lived in Brooklyn where her daughter Judith was born in 1944, then in San Diego and Sausalito, California. After the war they returned to Brooklyn and her son Robert was born there in 1946. Then began a long adventure as the family moved first to Pompton Plains, New Jersey, then to Oak Park, Birmingham, and Southfield in Michigan. Next was Bensalem, Abington, and Jenkintown in Pennsylvania. In 1964, with her children grown Jean began her career as maybe the original house flipper, using her talents in design, interior decoration, and handy work to successively make a profit on the many houses Allen and Jean lived in. The first in Connecticut was in West Hartford, followed by Avon and Hartford. It was also while they lived in Connecticut that they bought their first house on Snowy Egret in Sea Pines on Hilton Head in 1969. In Atlanta, Georgia they owned two houses, then settled full time in Hilton Head in 1985. The first house was on Canvasback. Next was Sandhill Crane, then Heritage Road, Greenwood Drive, and Pine Island Court. The last house before Seabrook was on Rose Hill Drive in Bluffton. In her 30 years at Hilton Head she volunteered for most of them at The Bargain Box, where she served a term as day chair and a member of the Board. Jean was a loving mother, very engaged with her children Judy and Bob. She was also close to her seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren, traveling to Boston and Brazil to visit. All of her offspring and in laws remember her most welcoming house. She was the ultimate homemaker, bargain hunter, and storyteller who could keep you entertained as she recounted the most ordinary event in such detail that it became extraordinary and hilarious. She will not be forgotten. The family will have a private burial in Lincoln, Massachusetts where her late husband Allen was buried. The Island Funeral Home and Crematory. theislandfuneralhome.com
