Grace C. Plumstead Grace C. Plumstead (Connie), of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, formerly of Bernardsville, New Jersey, died on May 26, 2016. Connie was born in Newark, New Jersey on December 14, 1924 and graduated from Milburn High School. After secretarial school she worked for the Mutual Benefit Company, Elizabeth, New Jersey, where she met and married her boss's son and love of her life James A. Plumstead on September 10, 1949. They were married for 58 years before his death in 2007. She and Jim raised their four daughters in Florham Park and Bernardsville, NJ, with intermittent residences overseas, in England, Japan, the Netherlands, and Belgium through Jim's work with Exxon. Upon his retirement, they built a home and moved to Hilton Head Island. Connie cherished her role as wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and made each family member feel special. Her love for the Lord was boundless and she sought to serve Him through His church wherever she went. She was a faithful member of Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church, Basking Ridge, New Jersey and a charter member of the Lowcountry Presbyterian Church in Bluffton, South Carolina. Her warm smile, hugs and sweet, gracious spirit drew many to her. Surviving family includes her four daughters and their husbands, Rev. Laurie and Scott Loveless of Newark, Delaware, Revs. Debby and Don Plumstead Marshall of Greenwood, S. Carolina, Revs. Cindy and Steve Strickler of Lenoir, N. Carolina, and Judy and Scott Harris of Wheaton, Illinois; ten grandchildren, Marian Gunther, Sara Loveless, Dan Loveless, Shawna Gose, Ali Neuhaus, Stephanie Mrakovich, David Strickler, Nick Marshall, Ben Marshall and Tim Marshall, six great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Paul Kreitler of West Chester, Pennsylvania and Hobart (and Sally) Kreitler of Southport, Connecticut. The family extends deep gratitude to the staff at the Preston of the Cypress and Hospice Care of the Lowcountry for their competent and loving care. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with visitation at 10 on Monday, May 30 at Lowcountry Presbyterian Church in Bluffton, S. Carolina. Pratt Jr., James M. - Glenview  
James M. Pratt, Jr. James M. Pratt, Jr., passed away peacefully on May 22, 2016. He was born in White Plains, NY, on August 14, 1919, to Aim‚e Grignard and James Martin Pratt. He graduated from Punahou School in Honolulu, and attended the US Military Academy, West Point. In 1941, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant of Infantry in the United States Army. Jim's Army career spanned 20 years and included combat service in the European Theater with the 115th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division in World War II, where he participated in the D-Day landings and received the French Legion of Honor. He also served in combat with the 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, during the Korean Conflict. During his active duty career, Jim was awarded several decorations, including the Silver Star and Bronze Star. Upon retirement from the Army as a Major in 1961, Mr. Pratt began working at Weyerhaeuser Company in Tacoma, WA and then transferred to Chicago to join the company's containerboard division. In 1971, he joined St. Joe Paper Company in Chicago and retired 20 years later. Jim and his wife, Sue, were Northbrook, IL residents. In his spare time, Jim was passionate about flying and was a longtime member of the Glenview Naval Air Station Flying Club. Jim Pratt is survived by his wife, Dorothy Allen (Sue) Pratt and four children, Josette Pratt Grimsley (Jim) of Beaufort, SC; James M. Pratt, III (Phyllis), of Hoffmann Estates, IL; Dr. J. Mark Pratt of Palo Alto, CA; John M. Pratt (Merry Ann), of Kenilworth, IL, and 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of the Vi in Glenview, IL along with Guardian Hospice for their devotion and loving care. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jim's name may be sent to Honor Flight. A private memorial and funeral service in Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia, is planned.
