John (Red) Marion, beloved husband and father, passed away on July 21, 2013. He was born and raised in Staten Island, NY to Cecile and Charles Marion on May 27, 1929 along with his surviving brother Charles (Chuck) Jr., and sisters Peggy, Susie and Yvette who preceded him in death. Red had forty wonderful years of marriage to Rose Mary Marion who preceded him in death by only five days on July 16, 2013. Red joined the United States Marine Corps in 1947 and proudly served his country for 30 years before retiring as a MGySgt, after which he continued his government service as a civil service employee for over 20 years. He leaves behind his children James (Jimmy) Marion (wife Laurie), Karen (Kem) Priebe, Robert (Bob) Marion, Charles (Wayne) Carey and Elizabeth (Beth) Carey. He also leaves eight grandchildren; Kelly (husband Ron), Andrew, Lillian, Kiana, Tyler (wife Cathy), and Malia. Also seven great grandchildren Jake, Sandy, Hannah, Sierra, Wyatt, Emryck and E.J. and extended family members Neil and Nick Wilson, as well as many, many other friends and loved ones. Red was most proud of his having been the recipient of the South Carolina's "Greatest Grandfather of the Year" award based on an essay submitted by his grandson Tyler in 2000. Red, just like Rose, is loved by all and will be missed by everybody. This unique life and death of Red & Rose will be celebrated together at a grave side ceremony on Tuesday July 23, 2013 at 2 P.M. at the National Cemetery located in Beaufort, SC. Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.
