Harold Clifton Sinclair of Hilton Head passed away February 12, 2013. He was born February 9, 1924 in Lynbrook, NY, to Harold C. Sinclair, Sr. and Ada (Vermilyea) Sinclair. Upon graduating from Malverne High School, he served in the U.S Army 2nd Division Infantry from 1942-45 in the European theater. Harold was married for 67 years to Joan (Kaiser) Sinclair, his high school sweetheart. A proud graduate of Rider College, Harold worked for Milliken and Company in New York, Boston, and Spartanburg for 41 years. During that time, he and Joan raised 5 children: Jeffrey (deceased), Susan Schneider (Kevin) Savannah, GA; Sally Sinclair-Hubbard (Raymond), Birdsboro, PA; David (Whitney), Winnetka, IL; and Amy Stapleton (Russ), Jacksonville, FL. There are 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. In addition to being a loving husband and "the greatest dad ever", Harold was an avid tennis player. For many years, he coached Little League and served on many community organization boards including the Port Royal Association and the Hilton Head Navy League. Of special interest to Harold was the Port Royal Arboretum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Francis by the Sea or Tidewater Hospice. Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 23 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis by the Sea, 45 Beach City Road, Hilton Head.
