Wim van der Graaf, 77, of Hilton Head Island died Monday, August 12, 2013 at Hilton Head Hospital. He was born March 31, 1936 in The Netherlands. He came to the United States when he was 14 and lived in Wilmette, IL. Wim graduated from Northwestern University in Chicago. He worked for the DuPont Co. in the advertising department for 20 years. Wim and his wife, Marlene moved from Hockessin, Delaware to Hilton Head in 1991. He was an avid tennis player and also enjoyed hunting, crabbing and kayaking. Wim is survived by his wife, Marlene, daughter Judy (Conrad) Gilsdorf of New Holstein, WI; 3 grandchildren, Amanda, Christopher and Dana; sister Margaret Richey of Rochester, NY and brother Max Vandergraaf of Morton Grove, IL. He was preceded in death by a son in April of 2012, Wim van der Graaf, Jr., and a brother Jan van der Graaf. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 17 at 2 pm at First Presbyterian Church.
