Janet Welshans Obituary

WELSHANS, Janet Dieffenbach

Janet Dieffenbach Welshans, 92, of Pasadena, CA, passed away on December 6, 2012 at GEM skilled nursing facility in Pasadena where she had spent her last eighteen months following a stroke. She had been a long-time resident in the Pasadena area for over sixty years with her family.
Janet was born in Jersey Shore, PA, to David and Sara Dieffenbacher on February 23, 1920. Janet, like her mother and sisters, was a member of the DAR. She attended Jersey Shore High School, graduating in 1938. She went on to earn a nursing license (RN) from the Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing in 1942. She practiced nursing for a number of years before a career change assisting in her husband's insurance business. She raised two sons and was an avid animal lover, especially cats.
Janet is preceded in death by her husband, Merrill and son, Darrel. Janet is survived by her son Gary and his wife Carolyn of San Francisco, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of their choice.
