George Harrison Vaughn George Harrison Vaughn, age 78, died at home in Upland, California on April 13, 2016. Born at home on October 20, 1937 in Percy, Illinois, he was the son of the late Theron Vaughn and Florence (Rosan) Vaughn. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Herrera de Vaughn along with two children; James Michael Vaughn (Viviana) and Christina Oseguera (Raul); 8 grandchildren, Christopher, Arianna , Janel , Paulina, Mary, James, Maggie, and Harrison. George was a 1955 graduate of Pomona High School and later graduated from the University of La Verne. After graduation, George began teaching in Chino, CA. George served in the US Army and was stationed at Fort Ord, CA. During his time in the US Army George took every opportunity he had to drive from Fort Ord, CA to Cucamonga, CA to see his girlfriend and future wife Rebecca. George and Rebecca were married July 11, 1964, and were to celebrate 52 years of marriage this year. After being discharged from the US Army, George began a 30 year career as a Probation Officer for the County of Los Angeles. George continued to educate himself and earned Master's degrees from the Claremont Graduate School as well as Pepperdine University. Additionally, George taught at East Los Angeles City College and volunteered for the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Academy. George was a member of Demolay and a 56 year member of the Masons. George gave his children and grandchildren many gifts. One of which was the love of reading. George held the record for the most books checked out at the library in Ontario, CA. George took his children camping throughout the United States which inspired them to continue traveling. George's CB handle on the road was Pathfinder. He loved crossword puzzles, Jeopardy!, and conversation. Viewing Services will be held Monday, May 2 at Stone Funeral Home in Upland from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 3 at Stone Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA. The family will greet friends from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. at Coco's Restaurant in Upland, CA which was George's favorite place to eat. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice in his name.
