DEWEES, Elaine Rae MacDonald
Elaine unexpectedly passed away peacefully in the family home she so loved for 50 years. Active to her last moments of her 90 years with us, she was blessed with only mild ailments that frustrated her independent nature.
With help from loving neighbors and family, she was able to achieve her desire to pass away at home while remaining independent.
An active member in the community, she served in the
California State Legislature as an Administrative Assistant to then prominent Assemblyman Frank Lanterman, many times using her position to cut through red tape to help the constituents in her 47th Assembly District.
Predeceased by her husband of 52 years who left our world in June, 2000, she leaves behind their two sons, David and Scott, David¹s wife Susan who became a daughter to them both; their loving granddaughters, Cynthia and Sherrie, along with her closest confidant, her sister, Jean. She was a witty and intelligent person, quick to correct poor grammar or
share her opinions and feelings.
Born August 5, 1922, she was raised in Philadelphia, attending Frankford High School, and later Drexel University, where she met the man she would later marry and move to Los Angeles in 1948, which became her permanent home until her passing on February 14, 2013.
In a brief ceremony, she will be interned next to her husband at 11:30 am, Friday, March 1st at Glendale Forest Lawn Cemetery, at 1712 S. Glendale Blvd. Afterwards there will be a luncheon at 1:30 at Clearman¹s North Woods Inn, near family home in Chapman Woods, at 7247 N. Rosemead Blvd, San Gabriel.
We invite the people in her life, her neighbors, friends and those in her children's lives, to join us.
And avid animal lover, in lieu of flowers she had preferred a donation to either The Pasadena Humane Society, 361 S. Raymond, Pasadena, 91105 or to aid returning military veterans via Operation Homefront, 8930 Fourwinds Drive, Suite 340, San Antonio, TX 78239.
