LINDBECK, Roger Harris

Roger Harris Lindbeck, of Pasadena and formerly San Gabriel, died unexpectedly Monday, October 1, 2012, after a valiant battle in recent months with various health issues.He was born to the late Marge and Elmer Lindbeck on November 19, 1941, in Galesburg, Illinois. While Roger had an early career in banking, his true passion was music. When singing with the William Hall Chorale, Bill Hall recognized his talents and arrangeda scholarship at Chapman University where Roger obtained a degree in teaching and music. He taught music and English for 28 years, retiring from San Gabriel High in 2005.Roger sang regularly with the William Hall Chorale both here and abroad and waschoir director at San Gabriel Methodist Church. He has sung with the prestigious LA Master Chorale for the past 26 seasons and sang with the LA Opera Chorus in 77 productions, including the inaugural performance at the Music Center.He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Gould Lindbeck; daughters Angela Banks,Allison Viehl (Peter), Patrice Emerson, and Pamela Cooley; and sister Deborah Schiffer, and 11 grandchildren whom he adored.

A memorial service will be held Monday, October 8, 2012, at 3PM at All Saints Church, Pasadena. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Los Angeles Master Chorale, 135 North Grand Ave., LA 90012 or online at LAMC.org.
