Gordon, Sylvia (Stoloff)

Sylvia (Stoloff) Gordon, 91, passed away peacefully September 24th, at the Villa Gardens retirement community in Pasadena, CA. Beloved wife of the late Arthur M. Gordon, a Chicago real estate developer, she leaves three sons, Barry (Lu Lisdero) of Pasadena, CA., Michael (Elizabeth Frey) of Longmeadow, MA, and Craig (Robin Cherin) of Berkeley, CA., five
grandchildren, Mark (Jessica Laufman), Ann, Elliott, Hannah and Simon, and her beloved brother, David Stoloff (Susan Klee) of Berkeley, CA, along with several nieces and nephews. Sylvia was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Jenny Stoloff and her sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Harmon Shragge, all of San Francisco. Sylvia was one of the founding members in 1980 of the first all women residential real estate firms in the city, Beliard, Gordon and Partners. They were honored by the Chicago Association of Realtors with the 2005 Lifetime Achievement Award. She was a strong supporter of city arts and culture. She served with the Chicago Architectural Organization, the Open Lands Board and the Women's Board at the University of Chicago. She traveled widely and her love of Chicago was exceeded only by her love of California. She maintained a passion for reading and sharing those stories with others, including The Roslyn Group.
