Thomas Edison Dacus
January 1, 1922 to July 8, 2013
Age 91, born in Green County, AR , passed away after a long battle with COPD. He leaves behind his wife, Mary Jo Dacus, and daughters, Susanne Derby, Judy Nelson, and Madeleine Boyer, six grandchildren, and 4 great- grandchildren.
At age 20, he completed A&E school and enlisted in the Army Air Corps, which secured his position as a Staff Sargeant during WWII. After the war, he worked as a flight-line mechanic for Lockheed Aircraft but his entrepreneurial spirit led him to open his own insurance business in La Verne, CA, where he was also a volunteer fireman, active member of the Lions Club and member of Calvary Baptist Church.
After retiring from insurance, he and his wife moved to Oregon where he became a real estate broker. He was very active in the community and his church. They lived in between Oregon and Arkansas over the years, and finally settled in Hemet, CA in 2000. He enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren, was an accomplished classical pianist, and wrote many stories about his experiences in life, and especially stories about WWII.
Funeral services: Friday July 12 at 1:30 P.M. at Todd Memorial Chapel, 570 N. Garey Ave. Pomona, CA
