Arthur J Crowley, 93, of Colton, CA, died Apr 8, 2012 at home surrounded by family. Born May 8, 1918 in Trenton, NE, the son of Nora and Jerry Crowley, 3rd of 6 siblings; he married Viola Marie Smith on Sep 1, 1941. Graduated from Colton High; spent 1 year working at Pacific Coast Borax; graduated from San Bernardino Valley College; joined the Civilian Pilot Training program at the Tri-City airport; worked for Lockheed building Hudson bombers and after Pearl Harbor switched to building P-38 Fighters. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II as a Petty Officer 2nd Class at the San Diego Naval Air Station; after discharge was employed by the California Electric Power Company for 17 years then Southern California Edison for 16 years. Throughout his life he volunteered tirelessly and led organizations for St. Bernadine and Aquinas High Schools and served continuously in the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Viola; 1 sister; 9 children and spouses; 33 grandchildren and spouses; 16 great-grandchildren; ALL were his "favorites". Visitation will be Wed Apr 11, 6 pm at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1106 N La Cadena Drive, Colton. A Resurrection Mass will be Thur Apr 12 at 11:30 am at Immaculate Conception Church.
