84, born August 28, 1927 to Jesse and Kathryn Hubbs in Colton, CA passed away at home on May 25, 2012. Don was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers (Orville, Paul and Jim) and two sisters Billie (Wilma) and Mary. He attended schools in Colton, CA and Lamar, MO. Also proudly serving in the United States Navy Seabee Unit from 1944 to 1946. Don met and married the love of his life, Verna Mae Blanchard in 1948 and had two children Danny Carl and Donna Lynn. Don started his business career owning a gas station in Colton and spent the remainder of his working years in construction. Over the years he worked for various contractors, including his brothers, Paul and Orville at Hubbs Equipment before starting his own company, Jesse Hubbs and Sons with his brother Jim in 1960. After Jim left to start his own company Don, along with Verna, continued to run Jesse Hubbs and Sons until his retirement. Don was particularly proud of his and his family's contributions to major construction projects throughout Southern California. Including portions of the California Aqueduct, Shandin Hills Golf Course, Lake Arrowhead Dam, the 1984 Olympic Shooting venue, various flood control projects with the US Army Corps of Engineers and street and subdivision development in the region. Don is survived by his best buddy and love of his life for 63 years, Verna Mae, son Danny Carl (Beverly) of Yucaipa, CA, daughter Donna Lynn of Pasco, WA. Grandchildren Rebecca Jane of Palm Desert, CA, Brenda Mae (Alex) and Betsy Joyce both of Yucaipa, CA, Jesse Michaels and Monica Mae both of Prosser, WA. Great-Grandchildren Brandon Scott of Yucaipa, CA, Colton Michaels, Mayli Mae and Dion Carlos all of Prosser, WA. Services will be held Monday, June 4 at 2pm at Hermosa Gardens Cemetery, 900 N.
