Jean Ann (Dill Stranigan) McKendrick
Jean Ann McKendrick passed away at University Hospital on November 4, 2013.
Jean was born on October 15, 1944 in Covina, CA to Fred and Lotus Dill of San Dimas, CA. The family lived in San Dimas until Jean was 7 years old. They then moved to Pomona, CA and were active members of the Pomona First Baptist Church.
Jean attended Lincoln Elementray School, Emerson Jr. High and graduated from Pomona High School in Pomona, CA. She attended Mt. San Antonio Jr. College in Walnut, CA where she graduated with an Associate of Arts Degree. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of LaVerne.
After receiving her Associate Degree, she began a career working for the City of LaVerne, CA. She became LaVerne City Treasurer and Systems Information Department Manager while serving the city for 36 years. She retired in December, 2000.
In 1970 she moved to LaVerne. She married Robert Stranigan in 1972 where they lived until his death in 1995.
In May of 1999 she met Leon McKendrick. They were married in February 2002 and moved to Boston. After Leon's retirement in June 2005 they moved from Boston to Draper, Utah. Jean enjoyed her retirement while living in her dream house in the mountains of Utah, shopping and traveling extensively with Leon.
Jean is survived by her husband Leon McKendrick, sister Jayne Dill of Pomona, CA, step-daughters Robin Long of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Cynthia Sherrard of Lufkin, TX step-son Robert McKendrick of Helper, UT and her Aunt Odean Eskew of Huntingdon, TN.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 9, 2013, at 10:00 am at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State St. in Orem. Friends and family may call one hour prior to the services on Saturday. Interment will be in the Spanish Fork Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at
