Passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by family on September 21, 2013.
Jill was born almost 70 years ago in DuBois, Pennsylvania to Lois Kearney and Jack Irwin, the only sister to three brothers. She graduated from Ohio University with a BS in Education and moved to Los Angeles in 1965 where she met her late husband Barney McNulty, inventor of cue cards and known as the "Cue Card King." For nearly thirty years she partnered with Barney in Ad Libs, the first cue card company in the Television and Motion Picture Industry. This work led to many memorable moments for Jill, like meeting presidents, dining with royalty, and rehearsing with some of Hollywood's greatest talents. Jill delighted in these adventures with Barney, and working with his cue card guys. They had two beloved daughters, Brynna and Erin, and resided in Studio City where Jill was an active community member. She volunteered with the PTA and served as President at multiple schools even after her children had graduated. She was a woman of strong faith, and was very active with the Faith Presbyterian Church of Valley Village, volunteering with youth programs, serving as a Deacon, Session Member, and Treasurer for nearly twenty years. Jill felt honored to serve on various committees of the Presbytery of San Fernando. Jill kept her heart and home with an "open door" policy which touched the lives of many. Her home was a focal point of a large extended family and countless others who considered her a mother, sister or friend. Those who knew Jill were lucky; she had a heart that was big enough for everyone. Jill died at home of complications of colon cancer, which she had been diagnosed with nearly fifteen years ago. Jill exceeded the expectations of caregivers by living with her condition far longer than anticipated; she lived by Living. Throughout her life with this disease Jill remained positive, practical, and courageous. Her loving spirit and heroic fight will remain an inspiration to many.
Jill is survived by daughters, Erin McNulty and Brynna McNulty-Aberant; step children, Keith McNulty and Audrey Schwartz; and four beautiful granddaughters.
Memorial services will be held at St. James Presbyterian Church in Tarzana on October 19, 2013, 11:00 a.m. For information about the service and donations please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
