Joe Jene Fringer
Was born on the Fringer farm in Newalla, Oklahoma on June 5th, 1930. He passed away on December 6th, 2012 in Riverside, California. He is now in Heaven with his beautiful wife Joyce that he married on December 6th, 1951. He is survived by two daughters, Davelene Jene Fringer and Joanna Jene Villanueva; and two grandchildren, April and Nicholas Villanueva. He is also survived by four brothers: Gilbert, Tom and Jim of Riverside, and Bill of Bakersfield; and many loving nieces and nephews who remember his portrayal of Santa Claus in Christmases past. He will be greatly missed by his extended family and friends. Joe started a long career in the retail business by working for R.O. Wilson in his grocery store at the corner of Redlands and Alessandro Boulevards in the town of Moreno when Joe's family moved to California in 1942. He was 12 years old. When his family moved to Riverside in the winter of 1944 Joe started working for Stater Bros. Markets at their store on Eighth Street. When the company opened a store in Magnolia Center Joe went there as Assistant manager. While working there he met his future wife, Joyce. After a period of time he went to the Rubidoux store as Manager. During the Korean War he served his country in the United States Air Force. He opened Fringer's Market in Redlands on Orange Street in 1970. He opened a dress shop for his wife, Joyce in the University area of Riverside, Joyce's Boutique. He was part owner of a gas station on the corner of Blaine Street and Kansas Avenue at about the same time. His beloved wife, Joyce passed away on March 7, 1988. He filled his time after the loss of his wife with helping to care for his grandchildren, operating a small gift shop in Colton, California and working for Albertson's Market as a department manager. Funeral services will be held at Akes Family Funeral Home, 9695 Magnolia Avenue, Riverside, California on Friday, December 14, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. A private burial will be held at Olivewood Cemetery in Riverside at a later time.
