Leona Roe
A resident of the Health Center at Mount San Antonio Gardens in Pomona, died March 20 at the age of 105, just 6 days short of her 106th birthday. Her husband, Harold Roe, and one daughter, Diane Kilponen preceded her in death. She is survived by one daughter, six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Leona was a graduate of the University of Minnesota school of nursing where she met Dr. Harold Roe. They were married in 1933 and eventually settled in Pomona. She received many awards for outstanding leadership and community volunteer work but remarked that her family always came first. Known for her warmth and generosity she will be greatly missed by all. Private family services will be held at the Pilgrim Congregational church in Pomona March 29 where Mrs. Roe was a long time member.
