Lucile Maxine Mendenhall
Lucile Maxine Mendenhall was born May 12, 1927 in Long Beach, California and peacefully passed away at Memorial Hospital on February 21, 2013 of complications from pneumonia. She had been in declining health for a couple of years. Maxine had attended Long Beach City College where she received an Associate Degree. While being a homemaker most of her life, Maxine was employed at the Procter and Gamble Manufacturing Company (where she met Alva) and also had worked for the State of California Board of Equalization where she had retired. Maxine loved all of her family and enjoyed traveling with Al to visit her sister on the east coast as well as many trips in the states and abroad with the retirees from the Procter and Gamble Employees Association. Proceeded in death by her husband, Alva, Maxine left many friends and relatives including her sons, Donald (Kathy) and Mark; grandsons, Darren (Sasha) and Cory (Megan); great-grandson, George; sister, Barbara (James) Whitmarsh; nephews, nieces and cousins; and her dear friend, Jo Ann Clark. Visitation will be Thursday, February 28 from 1pm-5pm at Stricklin Snively Mortuary, 1952 Long Beach Blvd., Long Beach, CA. Funeral service will be Friday, March 1 at 1pm at Stricklin Snively Mortuary with graveside service following at Forest Lawn Cypress.
