Richard Fredrick Leevers

Dick Leevers of Westminster, CA was born June 30, 1943 in Long Beach, CA and passed away February 21, 2013. He was the son of Pauline Leevers Gibson and the late Arthur Leevers. Dick is survived by his mother; sister, Jo-Ann Doran (Don); brother, Tom Leevers (Gwen); nephew, Garrett Leevers (Xochitl); and niece, Allison Leevers. After graduating from Long Beach Poly High School he attended Taft College. Following serving in the United States Army, Dick worked for Goodyear Tire Company, and later owned Rainbow Tire Stores in Long Beach and the South Bay area. Dick and his twin brother Tom were active growing up with the Boy Scouts of America and the Long Beach Council of the Tribe of Tahquitz. Dick served as the "Chief of the Tribe" and was an Eagle Scout. During his last year of high school he was in-charge of running the summer camp in Idyllwild. He was an avid life-long fisherman, boater, golfer and businessman. The neighborhood was like a second family that he tended to with love and care. He had a multitude of long-time friends. Dick's favorite phrase was "Just Another Day in Paradise," for he felt blessed with his life. We all love and miss him dearly and know he is in paradise now. A celebration of life will be held March 8th at 11:00 A. M. at California Heights United Methodist Church, 3759 Orange Avenue, Long Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tribe of Tahquitz/Boy Scouts of America, Camp Tahquitz Development Fund, P.O. Box 7432, Long Beach, CA 90807.
