THEODORE WALFORD ROSE
Age 89, Devoted husband and proud father of three children left us suddenly to join his Wife on April 1, 2013, after a life-long battle with Diabetes.
"Ted" was born to John Litchfield and Leatha Walford Rose on November 27, 1923, in Union City Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his wife Martha Jane Rose of 60 years. He is survived by his brother, Charles Rose; sons, John A. and Donald L. Rose; and daughter, Marsha Rose Collins. Extended family includes 12 Grand and 11 Great Grandchildren.
After an honorable discharge from the United States Army Air Corp, Ted received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from California Technical institute at Pasadena. While attending college he married his hometown sweetheart and loving wife Martha. They raised three children in Los Angeles, finally residing in Canoga Park CA. He devoted 20 years as design engineer to North American Rockwell Corporation, followed by 12 years as the owner/proprietor of Pacific Tool and Die in Van Nuys CA. He retired in 1985, and devoted his full time to his Wife and hobbies.
To fulfill his passion for maintaining an upstanding community, he was an active member of the West Valley YMCA Y's Mens' Club; provided transportation to the Sierra Vista Club of the Blind; a block Captain for the neighborhood watch program.
He was an avid Sailor and outdoors man. His passion was sailing his 16 foot "Pea Sloop" in any body of water that he could find. As a lover of the outdoors, he hiked, backpacked and traveled the US in his motor home during his retirement.
Viewing will be held April 7, 2013, 4:00 to 8:00 pm, at Crawford Mortuary, 8717 Tampa Ave., Northridge. Services Monday, April 8, 2013, 1:00 pm, in the Chapel at Oakwood Memorial Park, 22601 Lassen St., Chatsworth, followed by burial services. In lieu of flowers:
