Braulia "NANA" Gomez
Oct. 20, 1916 – Apr. 2, 2014
Braulia Gomez passed away at her home with family on Wed. Apr. 2, 2014 at age 97. Nana was born Oct. 20, 1916 in Sonora, Mexico and moved to Chino in the 1930's. Braulia was the eldest of 5 children and was the last surviving member of her birth family.
She is survived by her son, Harold "Sonny" Gomez (Lucy) of Moreno Valley; daughters, Rosie Abilez, Margie Loza, Nellie Martinez (Mel), Mary Gomez & Connie Gomez, all of Chino. She preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe "Tata" Gomez and son Joe "Jr." Gomez. Braulia is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, 25 great, great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and godchildren.
Braulia was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Chino.
"Nana" was a homemaker most of her life and loved to care for everyone. She was the best cook, loved to sew and crochet, especially her famous Christmas stockings. She nursed everyone, and loved to travel on vacations, especially to casinos.
"Nana" was never a stranger to anyone she met. Her warm smile and kind, positive spirit drew people to her immediately. She always put others ahead of herself and loved them unconditionally.
Services will be held Friday, April 11, 2014 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Chino. Viewing 9-10am, Rosary 10-10:30am, Mass 10:30. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Pomona . Please join us in celebrating her 97 wonderful years of life. Reception at American Legion in Chino, 1-5pm.
