Obituary Condolences

Veronica Schell Mazon
Passed away June 3, 2014 at her home in Pomona. She was born April 22, 1927 in Pasadena, CA. Veronica grew up in Pasadena, resided in Monrovia for over 50 years, and moved to Pomona in 2004. She graduated from St. Andrews High School, Pasadena and attended Immaculate Heart College in Hollywood. For 20 years she was employed in School media. Veronica and her husband, Richard, danced for many years with 2 folk dance groups, later expanding to Ballroom, Victorian, and Ragtime dancing. Color-coordinated dance outfits became their trademark. Richard and Veronica joined the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) San Gabriel Valley and served as hospitality hosts for 5 years. From the recipes she used, Veronica compiled, as a fund raiser for NAMI, her cookbook "from Veronica's Veranda". She enjoyed working in the garden, loved flowers, was interested in architecture, and composed Word Search Puzzles, which she shared with Seniors and Veterans Hospitals. Veronica belongs to Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Claremont, where she was active in the St.Vincent de Paul Society, the Community Outreach, and the Women's Council. Veronica dearly loved her family and was always concerned for their well being. She was predeceased by her step-son, Stephen Mazon, sisters-in-law, Marjie Schell, Josephine Schell, and her brother Richard Schell. Veronica is survived by her beloved husband, Richard, brother, Bill Schell of Glendora, son Michael Hamilton, of Pasadena, daughters Veronica Khalsa of New Mexico, and Heather Peterson and her son-law Marshall Peterson of La Verne, also 5 grandchildren, and 2 great-grand-daughters, and nieces and nephews.
