Virginia Brennan 1923-2009 Virginia Brennan, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away in her home on December 3, 2009. She was born on January 2, 1923, the daughter of George and Helen McCarthy in Chicago, IL. It was there she met the love of her life, Dr. James Brennan, and they began a life that included 4 children, 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and an active life in the Long Beach commun ity. She was an active member of St. Barnabas Parish, Junior League of Long Beach and Virginia Country Club. She was president of the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women from 1969 to 1971. She was a founding member of the Right to Life League where she defended the rights of our most helpless, the unborn, and was inducted as a Dame of Malta in 1986. Virginia and Jim were dedicated to the mission of St. Mary Medical Center and she had continued this good work with the Sisters. Virginia is survived by her children, Helen Baumann, Jim (Judith) Brennan, Mary (John) Cliby, Tom (Shanlee) Brennan; 15 loving grandchildren; and a growing number of great grandchildren. This amazing, loving woman will be truly missed by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Mary Medical Center Foundation or the Right to Life League of Southern California. Viewing on Sunday, December 6, 2009 from 6-9 pm with a Rosary at 7:30 pm at All Souls Mortuary, 4400 Cherry Ave., Long Beach.
