ARTHUR WARNER KASSEL III
The Guest Book is expired.
Art died suddenly, in his San Clemente home on April 11, 2012. He was born to Carolyn Kassel Anderson and Arthur Warner Kassel Jr. on May 15, 1951 in Hollywood, California. He was the grandson of the well-known swing era orchestra leader Art Kassel and his "Kassels-in-the-Air."
After attending Junior College, Art became a Costa Mesa Police
Officer for 10 years. His passion for law enforcement led to a new career as a private investigator in Orange County. He then developed the nation's largest correspondence detective training school, known as DTI (Detective Training Institute).
Art's adventurous spirit led him to develop a motorized hang glider that would be seen flying over the San Clemente beaches. A familiar wave from Art to a child on the beach would inspire 300 people to wave back.
Art will be greatly missed by his family. He is survived by his mother, Carolyn; his sister, Victoria; his younger brother, Kevin; as well as four nieces and a nephew. The family will hold a private memorial and ask that in lieu of flowers, donations in Art's name be made to the
, as he was a cancer survivor.
