Dennis, Barbara Deasy
Barbara Deasy Dennis passed away peacefully on May 1, 2013 at the age of 84. She was surrounded by family and loved ones.
Born in 1929, Barbara was the daughter of the late Judge Frank T. and Zeta Deasy. She was raised in San Francisco and Woodside, CA. Barbara attended the Sarah Dix Hamlin School and later U.C. Berkeley where she was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. In 1958 Barbara married Richmond (Dick) Dennis and later moved to Chicago, IL, then St Louis, MO before relocating permanently to Pasadena, CA.
Barbara was an avid world traveler and a master golfer, accomplishing several hole-in-ones. In 1985 Barbara won the AWGA Club Championship. Hall of Famer Sam Snead was her golf hero and she took several lessons from him, even travelling to West Virginia to play with him. Barbara was very active member of Annandale Country Club and The Valley Hunt Club. She volunteered for Christ Child Society of Pasadena, Huntington Hospital, and Children's Hospital Los Angeles and was a docent at several museum including the Art Institute of Chicago and Los Angeles County Museum. Barbara was also an accomplished bridge player.
Barbara's devoted husband Dick passed away in 1995. They are together once again. Her older sister Patricia Bloch Jackson precedes her in death. She is survived by her sister Connie Grigsby of Corona Del Mar, niece Melissa Welles of Ross, CA, nephew Keller Grigsby of Los Angeles, and several grand nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass in Barbara's honor will be held at 11AM on Friday, May 10 at St. Andrews Church, 311 N. Raymond Ave., Pasadena.
