Pablo "Paul" Cervantes Torres, 88 of Calexico passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2013 with family at his hospital bedside in El Centro.
Paul was born February 16, 1925 in El Centro, CA and married Maria Soqui Valdez on June 28, 1953 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Calexico. He was a loving husband and father and grandfather of 4 children, 9 grandchildren, and 2 great- grandchildren. He lived his entire life in Calexico, retiring from Holly Sugar Corp. in 1987. Paul was a Korean War Veteran with a Purple Heart, Combat Infantry-man Badge and Army Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge.
Paul is survived by his wife of 60 years, Maria Torres; 4 sisters; 3 daughters, Ruby (Dan) O'Neal of San Diego, Gloria (Luis) Barajas of Corona, Sylvia (Gustavo) Villegas of Calexico; son, Paul V. Torres, Jr.; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, July 30 at 6 p.m. at Hems Brothers Mortuary in Calexico. Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Calexico at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31, followed by burial at Mountain View Cemetery in Calexico.

Comadre Maria,Gloria and Family, We are very sorry for your loss. Compadre Pablo will be missed very much. He was a very nice and considerate man. He was very shy when he would talk to me , I will miss him very much, it won't be the same, seeing my comadre maria and he won't be by her side. My heart goes out to all of you. God Bless you all.
