Altagracia Torres, 83, of Moreno Valley passed away of natural causes on July 16, 2014 in her home.
She was born January 6, 1931 in Michoacan, Mexico. Altagracia came to the United States on April 22, 1965. The family worked at Bonanza Farms for many years. She enjoyed cooking and tending to her large garden. After living in Imperial Valley for many years, she and some of her children moved to Moreno Valley where she spent the rest of her golden years. She lived the American Dream of bringing her children to the United States for a better life and a good education. Altagracia was the Matriarch of the Torres family and will be remembered for her traditional homemade cooking, her faith, and her generosity.
Visitation will take place Thursday, July 31 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hems Brothers Mortuary in El Centro with rosary at 7 p.m.
Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, August 1 at St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Imperial. Burial will immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jesus C. Torres; daughters Juana T. Ponce and Delia Martinez.
Altagracia is survived by her sons Arturo (Maria Elena), Jose, Pedro (Teresa), Ricardo (Diana), and Victor Ponce of Imperial, CA, Jesus (Elva) of Tracy, CA, and Gerardo of Crestline, CA; her daughters Teresa Torres, Esther Guerra, and Lupe Valdez of Stockton, CA, Yolanda Delgado (Joe), Maggie Torres, and Maribel Torres (Alvaro) of Moreno Valley, CA; and numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
