Antonio Alvarado, 75, of Calexico lost his battle with cancer Tuesday, July 8, 2014.
He was born August 4, 1938 in Michaocan, MX and was later married to Zenaida on April 21, 1963 in Mexicali. Antonio worked at Ryerson Concrete from 1964 to 2010 as a heavy equipment operator; while working he enjoyed playing for the company baseball team as a pitcher. After his retirement he devoted his time to his family and enjoyed working on his yard and watching baseball games.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vicente Alvarado; mother, Socorro Alvarado; and sister, Angelina Hernandez.
Antonio is survived by his wife, Zenaida Alvarado of Calexico; daughters, Veronica Alvarado of Indio and Araceli Alvarado of Calexico; sisters, Trinidad Lopez of El Centro and Esther Aguilar of Beaumont. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Iliana Alvarado Oropeza of Calexico, Nicholas Brownyard of Indio and Daniel Campos of Calexico; as well as various nieces and nephews.
Visitation and rosary will take place Wednesday, July 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hems Brothers Mortuary in Calexico.
Mass is scheduled for Thursday, July 17 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Calexico.
